UniStart for Bachelor/undergraduate students

Welcome to UniStart

Between the time of submitting your application and until you receive notification of whether or not you have been admitted to AAU on 28 July, use UniStart to:

  • View the status of your application.
  • Find your inbox with important messages from the Admissions Office. The Admissions Office communicates exclusively with applicants via UniStart.
  • When you receive a new message in UniStart, a notification will be sent to the private email stated in your application.

If you are admitted to AAU on 28 July, and thus offered a student place, you must:

  • Confirm the offered student place no later than 5 August at 23:59. It is important that you respond - even if you do not wish to accept the place!
  • Order a AAUcard by uploading a picture
  • Find your AAUmail

    How to login

    First time logging in to unistart?

    Click "Unistart login" in the right-hand side of this website.

    Login using your registration no./ and the password specified in the confirmation letter sent to your email.
    You can find your registration no. in your letter of enrolment. 

    The first time you login, you will be prompted to change your password. It is important that you remember your new password since you will need it to login to UniStart in the future.

    Forgotten your password?

    Reset your new password to the original password by choosing "Have you forgotten your password?" at the login page.

    If you are trying to access UniStart from a public computer at a library or another public institution, you may experience problems due to the "https" format.

    On 28 July, you can login to UniStart to see whether you have been offered admission and a student place.
    You will recieve a letter of admission (sent to your UniStart mailbox between 00.00 midnight - 12 noon).
    It is important that you read that letter.

    • You must actively accept or decline your student place within the deadline stated in the admission letter.
    • It is very important that you respond - even if you wish to decline the offer! Your student place can then be offered to another applicant.

    If you are unable to respond before the deadline, please ask someone else to accept or decline on your behalf.

    When you have been admitted, you can find your AAUmail in UniStart.

    You are required to use your AAUmail during your studies at AAU, since all information from the university will be sent to this mail.

    Your AAUmail is auto-generated, and cannot be altered.
    The password to your AAUmail is the same as you use to login to UnIStart.

    Order AAUcard

    Please order your AAUcard at least a month before the beginning of the semester in order to receive it before you begin your studies. If you already have a valid AAUcard, you do not need to order a new card.

    When admitted to AAU, you need to order your AAUcard. Login to UniStart, go to the tab "Order AAUcard" and upload a picture.
    The picture must meet these requirements:

    • Must show clear likeness
    • Must be taken in front of a plain background
    • Must be taken in full-face view directly facing the camera

    As a student at Aalborg University, your student card (AAUcard) is essential. It functions as your ID card, as your access card to AAU buildings, and as a library card for Aalborg University Library (AUB).

    Lost your AAUcard?

    If you lose your AAUcard, you need to contact your local campus building supervisors or send an email to as soon as possible.

    Your AAUcard will then be closed and a new card will be ordered. If you send an email, remember to state your student number or your date of birth.
